PETALING JAYA (Sin Chew Daily) –- Grant Thornton Malaysia, the independent auditor for Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards, feels that the award event provides an excellent platform for Malaysian SMEs to learn from one another in their continued pursuit of excellence.

Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards 2019 is jointly organized by Sin Chew Daily and Sinchew.com.my. U Mobile is the joint sponsor of the event.

During an interview with
Sin Chew Daily, Grant Thornton Malaysia’s Hooi Kok Mun said Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards offers a unique opportunity for Malaysian SMEs to showcase themselves and to stay connected with other participating companies, lawyers, bankers, etc. for professional views on IPO, private equity funding or corporate loans, among others.

The event also provides a platform for participating companies to get to know one another, expand their networks and explore the possibility of meaningful business cooperations.

Hooi felt that a company cannot run a business on its own but must stay connected with others in order to maximize their opportunities.

Also from Grant Thornton, Desmond Tan said many participants treat Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards as a benchmark contest that allows the participants to understand their own positioning in the market.

He added that many companies have been able to witness the success of other listed companies through this event.

Grant Thornton Malaysia partner Antony Leong said although there are fewer companies registering for Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards this year, there has nevertheless been an improvement in the quality of participating companies compared to last year.

He noted that some companies have decided to register after seeing their competitors win an award because they believe this event will help them build up their branding and expand their market.

Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards 2019 has a total of 13 categories, including the newly set up International Business Excellence Awards in which companies doing international business are encouraged to take part.
