KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 (Sin Chew Daily) — Malaysian students who are studying in China are seeking help to continue with their studies.

They are unable to return to China or attend online classes from Malaysia.

Bock Chek Lim, president of the Association of Graduates from Universities and Colleges of China, Malaysia, told Tan Kok Wai, MP for Cheras, that since January last year, more than 4,500 Malaysian students are unable to return to their universities in China.

They also face difficulties attending online classes from Malaysia.
The progress of their studies and quality of study are both affected. They are unable to attend practical sessions too.

Tan said he would bring up this matter with Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah when parliament sitting resumes.

In April, Tan met with Ambassador of China to Malaysia Ou Yang Yujing to explore on allowing Malaysian students to return to China to continue with their studies.

Other foreign students currently studying in China are facing similar problems as China has shut its border to foreigners.

It is learned that more than a hundred Malaysian students are forced to stop or give up their studies in China and switch to other countries.

Tan said both students and their parents were anxious to know when they could resume their studies.

He said issues faced by Malaysian students studying in China should be resolved as soon as possible or Malaysia would be losing its talents.
