PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Ambassador to the United States Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said the disparaging remarks by Singapore-born, New York-based stand-up comedian Jocelyn Chia were insignificant, neither did they represent the stand of the United States government.

He said the good relationship between Malaysia and Singapore would not be affected by this incident he described as just a “mosquito bite.”

He told Sin Chew Daily Malaysians should not take Chia’s remarks too seriously, as they carried no weight nor any importance.

He nevertheless agreed that what Jocelyn Chia said was totally unacceptable.

“But who cares? It’s immaterial. If we care, we will get hurt all the time!”

When asked to comment on Umno Youth’s call for a protest outside the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow, Nazri said they were only wasting their time, adding that a woman’s speech did not represent the stand of the US government.
